# Purple Day Camp at Purple Child Neurology Clinic
This year on Purple Day, 26th March, we conducted an epilepsy awareness and screening camp at Purple Child Neurology and Epilepsy Clinic, Ahilyanagar.
The idea was simple.
Many parents still reach us late, often after multiple seizures. This usually happens because they are unsure whether it is epilepsy, scared of the diagnosis, or influenced by common myths.
We wanted to create a space where they could come freely, ask questions, and truly understand their child’s condition.

## What we did
Over four days, from 26th to 29th March, we evaluated children from newborn age up to 18 years.
Most of them came with concerns of seizures, delayed development, or unclear neurological symptoms.
Our focus was more on explaining than prescribing.
We spent time helping parents understand:
* what seizures look like
* when to be concerned
* why regular treatment is important
For many families, this clarity itself made a significant difference.
EEG was also made available at a reduced cost so that diagnosis could be done without delay.

## What we saw
A large number of children had either undiagnosed epilepsy or irregular treatment.
Some were already on medication, but parents were anxious due to incomplete understanding.
A few children presented early, which is exactly what we hope to encourage.
It reinforced one thing very clearly.
Awareness is still the biggest gap.

## Special moment
The camp was inaugurated by Honorable Mayor Jyotitai Gade.
Her presence was encouraging for us as well as for the families who attended.
It reflected a growing recognition that neurological health in children needs attention at the community level.

## Why this matters
Epilepsy is common.
But the fear and misconceptions around it are even more widespread.
The reality is that many children do very well when diagnosed early and treated appropriately.
As pediatric neurologists, we see this every day.
But outside the clinic, this understanding is still limited.
That is why Purple Day matters.

This camp was a small step, but an important one.
We plan to continue such efforts so that parents feel more informed, more confident, and children receive timely care.
